When andrea decided to go back and work part time in school, we were really worried about leaving mateo to his yaya’s care. First and foremost, cat (that’s the name of mateo’s nanny), was coming straight from high school. And second, she’s not related to mateo at all, not a cousin, not even a blood relative, not at all family. Lastly, with all the news on TV about babies being mishandled by their nannies, we were really afraid of letting her nor anyone else handle mateo alone.

We thought, if only his grandparents lived nearby then we would have someone we really trust to handle him for us, but unfortunately mateo’s grandparents live really far from us.

And because we were running out of options, we seriously considered installing hidden security cameras in the house just to see if cat would really be able to handle mateo properly. In fact, we even got to the point when we were already checking ITPlanet for the most appropriate selection of digital cameras to use. (We tried them out because they offered to match the lowest prices available in the market.) I admit, we were really getting desperate then.

It wasn’t until andrea decided to take a leap of faith and give cat one week of trial that we finally got some peace of mind. Because for that whole week, mateo didn’t meet any accident nor get sick. In fact, he showed growing affection for her nanny and that’s what sealed the deal.
