It always feels different, almost heart-breaking, to see that your students have become young men and women already. That’s what I felt when I saw the juniors and seniors in their formal attires with their dates - all looking like fine young ladies and gentlemen.
For that night, at least, they weren’t our students. They were young adults trying their best to play the role - independent, sociable, regal, and able to carry themselves with confidence as they dance, converse, and accompany their respective dates.
They were beautiful.
Some of them carried their roles well, were able to loosen up, and seemed like they were having a good time.
Others tried… and found it a bit difficult. But at least they tried.
All in all it was great. The food was great. Andrea and I danced, or at least tried to. Everybody seemed to have fun.
