parking problems

One of the nasty things about being late for work is searching for a good parking place. Obviously, all the best spots are taken by the early ones by the time you get there if you don’t come to work on time.

In my case, however, when I do arrive late, I still look for the areas with the most shade. Unfortunately, because of people who overstay in the parking areas, I rarely get a chance to land one. As a result, the car unnecessarily suffers from long periods of exposure to the blistering heat. This is why, I sometimes wish that the school would use a movable bollard to control or reserve parking spaces for school employees such as myself.

But then again, I could just come to school earlier. Yup! That sounds like a better idea…

pc games are any man’s best friends

In my quest to make my laptop run faster and smoother, I vowed to uninstall all unnecessary programs that take up a significant portion of my computer’s memory. One of these programs included my favorite game, Warcraft III.

Now, without the game, I find myself restless during free times. You see, before I had the game removed, I would sometimes play against the computer in between tasks (for around 15 to 30 minutes) to fight boredom or the urge to fall asleep or sometimes just to take a sanity break. Now, because I deleted the game from my pc, I don’t have anything to play. Or sometimes if I do find a game from somewhere, it would be too long to finish in 15 minutes. Playing these games leaves me even more restless than before. This is why I think keeping a favorite game in the computer is necessary. At least, I believe it is for me.

So if girls would claim there’s truth behind the saying, a diamond is a girl’s best friend, then I’m certainly sticking with the saying, computer games are man’s best friends.

plastic ideas

Because the school’s science expo is already on its third week of implementation, students are now busy working on their respective projects. My advisees, more specifically, are working already on their models.

Up to now, everything seems to be going smoothly except for one crucial factor - the materials. A lot of my advisees are working on plastic models. And the basic problem with plastic is availability. I mean, you can’t simply go to the store and hope to find the one with the right thickness, shape, transparency, and mold all the time, right?. Not to mention, even the type of plastic has to be precise, like if the model is going to be using Polyethylene Bags or the more specific Cellophane Bags, for example. It’s a big hindrance and it’s causing the students’ a considerable delay in the completion of their models.

Fortunately, there are resources online that provide a wide range of plastic materials. The down side, however, is shipping or delivery cost. But at least, they can be sure to find the specific kind of plastic that they need from there. All they’d need is a working computer, an internet connection and they’re set. No need to compromise their projects because of inferior alternatives to plastic.

raiders of the lost pad

When I was cleaning a pile of stuff in the house the other day, I discovered an unused drawing pad underneath all the junk. At first, I was surprised to see the pad there. It was still sealed in plastic and it was in almost pristine condition except for the fact that is was covered in a thick layer of dust.

Then I wondered what it was doing there underneath that pile of ready-to-be-thrown-away paper, and I remembered. Andrea and I bought that thing a long long time ago because she wanted me to draw her while she was pregnant. In fact, we bought the pad along with a bunch of other stuff - drawing pencils, eraser and if I’m not mistaken, even poster paint (or was it acrylic I’m not so sure anymore). Obviously, I didn’t get around to doing it. So I guess it must have been forgotten and got covered with the ever-growing mound of used paper in the house.

So this time I got the pad, cleaned the dust off of it, and set it aside on top of the cabinet. Then I seriously thought about opening it already right there and then but before I could, I stopped. Even though I wanted to immortalize andrea even if she’s not pregnant anymore, I realized I wasn’t ready to go back to drawing. At least not yet. I figured if I’m to go back, then I want to do it without worries.

Right now, that’s close to impossible. With the school year about to draw to a close, I can’t expect to have a lot of free time for drawing.

Perhaps, this summer…  We’ll see…

a loan for a business

One of our plans is to start our own business. I have a lot of ideas already but we lack the capital for any of them. It seems that you need a lot of money to make more money. Once we recover more from our current financial dilemmas, we might (stress on the word might) consider secured personal loans to be able to start a business. We will make sure to compare loans to be able to choose the loan that will benefit us the most. Or maybe take out a debt consolidation loan to pay off our credit card debts. It’s so easy to take out a loan now, even those with bad credit can still get bad credit loans. Well, we have a lot of plans and we only need the means to be able to put them into action. One of these days, we’ll get there ;)
